With diminishing oil and gas recourses, the problem of energy security and supply is becoming a problem throughout the world. However, oil and gas is not only the largest source of energy but also the largest source of starting material for chemical synthesis. As oil and gas prices increase, alternative resources are becoming more and more appealing for both chemical production as well as energy sources.

Nordlight is a Sweden based company developing green chemicals and fuels from woody residues e.g., from silviculture and the pulp and paper industry. Through technology development and acquirement, Nordlight will license technology pertaining to fields including gasification, gas clean-up, thermo-chemical conversion and manufacturing of green chemicals from lignocellulosic materials.
